Former MLA Adusumilli Jayaprakash said that Nara Chandrababu Naidu is not the first former CM to be arrested. He recalled that former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and P V Narasimha Rao faced court trials on corruption charges when they were in power and as opposition leaders. They challenged them in the court of law. Jayalailthaa and Lalu Prasad Yadav have been booked on different corruption and disproportionate assets (DA) cases. Lalu Prasad has been in and out of jail frequently. Jayalalithaa also spent time in jail. Former chief minister of Haryana Om Prakash Choutala, son of Devi Lal who was deputy prime minister of the country, has been serving ten years imprisonment. He is 88 years old. The present CM of AP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy faced DA case as an MP and he is doing legal battle against them. He said that Naidu had a right to fight the cases and there are various provisions in democracy to prove his innocence in case he is not guilty.

Jayaprakash said that the court found prima facie in the CID allegations against Naidu in skill development scam. The court remanded NCBN on corruption grounds. He said that the next elections in Andhra Pradesh will be held on the CID cases. “The present cases against former CM turned out to be interesting and the people are openly discussing them”, he said.
