- Irrigation is the top priority for State
- Will take up projects for balanced regional developments
- Polavaram will be completed by 2022 Kharif
Amaravati: AP CM Y.S.Jagan Mohan reddy laid the foundation stone for Somasila Phase-2 irrigation project in virtual mode from his office at Tadepalli. This High Level Canal project is going to cost Rs/ 459 crores and will irrigater 46, 453 acres in Prakasham and Nellore districts. This also provides drinking water, pump stations and gravity canals. Jagan has made it clear that all projects will be completed in a time-bound manner and will be given top priority. ‘Earlier government came up with estimation of Rs. 527 crore and did not move a single stone. We are going with Rs. 459 crore and the difference after reverse tender is 68 crore which helped a lot in saving public money’, Jagan said.
This phase-2 will provide drinking water for 2.5 lakh people in Atmakur and Udayagiri constituencies. Jagan is confident that Polavaram project will be completed by kharif of 2022 and will dedicate the project to the nation.CM Jagan said that six irrigation projects namely Vamsadhara Phase 2, Veligonda reservoir, Owk tunnel, Vamsadhara-Nagavali interlinking, and Nellore barrage works are going on with great momentum and will be completed by 2021.
Firm on 3 Capital Decision
AP CM once again said that development should be decentralised across state and should not be restricted to one place or one area. In the same way he said that he came up with irrigation projects in all three regions with a balanced justice. This clearly indicates that Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is on a firm wicket about three capitals.
Quoting the above statement, he said that for Rayalaseema region, the government is coming up with Rayalaseema Drought Mitigation project with cost of 40,000 crore, for North Andhra Sujala Sravanthi Project with cost of 15,000 crore along with Chinthalapudi lift irrigation, two more projects on lower and upper Krishna basins for Andhra will be coming up. He said that AP Government is to safeguard farmers and water resources.
