Is Manchireddy facing a three-term incumbency factor in Ibrahimpatnam?

  • Allegations of supporting real estate venturists
  • Realtors encroached upon land calling it private land
  • Farmers did not get compensation for their lands in Mining zone in Bandaravirala village
  • Poor sections are angry on not giving DBR houses
  • Manchireddy won in 2018 just with 376 votes margin
  • Peddamberpet people are in dissent mood for not sanctioning funds
  • Congress candidate Malreddy Ranga Reddy giving tough time to the MLA

Manchireddy Kishan Reddy is facing opposition from his own BRS party leaders this time. When other BRS candidates are facing a two-term incumbency factor in many segments, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, who has been elected as MLA from Ibrahimpatnam since 2009, is fighting to get another win. Congress candidate Malreddy Ranga Reddy is confident of beating Manchireddy this time. BJP will be in third place in the constituency.

The MLA has been facing more than half a dozen issues in the constituency. Many BRS leaders joined Congress from various municipalities including Peddamberpet. Krishna Reddy, vice-chairman of the municipality, left him and levelled tons of allegations against him. Secondly, the farmers of Bandaravirala in Abdullahpurmet mandal are against the MLA for not solving their land compensation problem. The government acquired their lands under the mining zone in Bandaravirala village. Thirdly, the houses of the poor were evacuated in Abdullapurmet mandal by alleging that they were private lands. There are allegations that the lands were handed over to the real estate companies.

Fourthly, the poor are not happy over double bedroom housing and the houses were allotted to the people of other assembly segments but not in the Ibrahimpatnam segment.

Fifthly, the Dalith Bandu and BC Bandu is a failure one in the segment due to lacunae in executing the system. The poor were ignored and crorepatis picked up the scheme. P Sankar, a dalit in Abdullahpurmet said, “The BRS leaders collected Rs 3 lakh for sanctioning of Dalith Bandu”

Sixthly, the rampant corruption of BRS leaders is a big problem in all the mandals.

K Saida Reddy, a teacher, said, “The people were in distress with the behaviour of BRS leaders and the defeat of Manchireddy Kishan Reddy in the segment is imminent. It is not easy for Manchireddy to win in Ibrahimpatnam for the fourth time as the incumbency factor is triple here. The people are against the BRS government as well as the local MLA”.

When asked about the election prospects in Ibrahimpatnam, K Sivakumar, CPI-M leader of Abdullapurmet mandal, which is part of Ibrahimpatnam, said, “The defeat of BRS candidate is imminent and there is an edge for Congress here.CPI-M will get 15,000 votes”. (eom)
