Hyderabad: GMR-led Hyderabad International Airport came up with good news for passengers travelling to US from Hyderabad. As per it, Air India will operate direct flight from Shamshabad to Chicago from 15 January 2021 which will be a bi-weekly.
Hyderabad which is one of a largest gateways of South India with largest hub, is witnessing 7, 00,000 passengers annually from Rajiv Gandhi International airport. To this, add passengers of nearly 2 lakh from nearby proximity like Vizag, Vijayawada, Nagpur, and Rajahmundry.
According to Pradeep Panicker, CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport, this upcoming direct service connectivity is in the mind from quite some time and delighted to see that has commenced through our national carrier, Air India. In future, they may link up more cities on domestic and International routes, he further added.
The Air India Boeing 777-200 aircraft will have seating capacity of 238 in total, out of which 8 First class,35 Business class and 195 Economy class.
Hyderabad, which is known for IT and Pharma hub would provide much needed impetus for air cargo uplift in near future.
