- Suicide note found
Bengaluru: S.L. Dharma Gowda, Deputy Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council, was found dead on a railway track near Kaduru in Chakkamagaluru. A suicide note has been recovered. This is a shocking development for the family and the party he belongs to, Janata Dal (Secular). He left his home on Sunday evening and the family members were worried about him.
“Dharma Gowda is a calm and decent man. His death is a loss to Karnataka,” said former prime minister Deve Gowda. “The party has lost an impeccable politician,” said former chief minister and leader of the JD(S) HD Kumaraswamy.
Dharma Gowda was recently heckled and dragged by the Congress MLCs in House in an awkward drama. The 64-year old leader was dragged from his chair by the Congress members and brought to the well of the House. The Congress MLCs had objected to Dharma Gowda sitting in the chair after they moved a no-confidence motion against the chairman of the House. Dharma Gowda’s brother Bhoje Gowda is also an MLC and is known to be close to Kumaraswamy.
Sarapanahalli Lakshmaiah Dharma Gowda was member of Karnataka legislative council and its deputy chairman since 2018.
