- Racist comments continue on 3rd, 4th day of Sydeny Test
- Bumrah, Siraj complain of abusive comments from Aussie supporters
- Cricket Australia apologises
Sydney: Fourth day of the Test match between India and Australia was halted for a few minutes when Indian seamer Siraj complained of abuse by few persons among the crowd. Spectators who were responsible were removed from gallery and Australia came up with apologise to Indian team later.
Same scene was repeated on 3rd day of Test match when a section of crowd abused Bumrah and Siraj with racist comments who were immediately sent out of the stadium. Justin Langer, Australian Coach, condemned the incident.
Peak of Rowdy Behaviour: Kohli
Virat Kohli came on twitter and condemned the incident. “Racial abuse is absolutely unacceptable. Having gone through many incidents of really pathetic incidents occurred on the boundary lines, this is absolutely peak of rowdy behaviour. It’s sad to see this happen on field. The incident needs to be looked at with absolute urgency and seriousness and strict action against the offenders should set things straight for once” kohli tweeted.
SCG worse than any grounds: Aswin
Indian spinner Ravichandran Aswin felt Sydney is worse than Adelaide and Melbourne. If I take myself back to my first tour in 2011-12, I had no clue about racial abuse and how you can be made to feel small in front of so many people. And the people actually laugh at you when you get abused; I had no idea what was this about. When I stood at the boundary line, you wanted to stand another 10 yards inside to keep yourself away from these things, Aswin said.
Australian Prime Minister condemns incident
Australian acting Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, said there is no place for racism in Australia. Strong action should be taken by NSW police and ground officials. We are a tolerant country and the most successful multicultural nation in the world. Australia’s performance so far in this test is good-the team won’t be pushed away from victory by getting distracted, PM said.
