New Delhi: For the first time in Indian railways’ history, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off eight trains connecting to Kevadiya in Gujarat from different corners of the country. Modi did this via video conferencing with trains facilitating seamless connectivity to Statue of Unity, Kevadiya. Addressing via video conference, PM said that today’s event exemplifies the vision of Indian railways and mission of Sardar Patel. Out of 8, one train originates from Puruchi Thaliavar Dr.MG Ramachandran railway Station of TN. PM paid tribute to MGR on his Birth Anniversary. PM noted that MGR’s political journey was filled with dedication towards poor and he worked tirelessly for a dignified life and the government is working to fulfil his ideals. Grateful nation renamed Chennai Central Railway Station after MGR, PM further said.

PM felt that these trains will benefit tourists and help development of Kevadiya. New connectivity between Kevadiya and Chennai, Varanasi, Rewa, Dadar, and Delhi and MEMU service between Kevadiya and Pratap Nagar and broad guage of Dabhoi-Chandod will script a new chapter for Kevadiya’s development, PM said. Statue of Unity is attracting more visitors than Statue of Liberty and now it has become one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world. Nearly 50 lakh people visited Statue of Unity after it was dedicated to nation and as per estimations, if connectivity increases, will touch about one lakh visitors per day, PM said. It is a planned development of economy, ecology while protecting environment. And Now Kevadiya has transformed into complete family package with all amenities like grand Statue of Unity, Sardar Sarovar, Vast Sardar Patel Zoological Park, Arogyavan, Jungle Safari, Glow Garden, water Sports and Ekta Cruise, PM said with smile on his face.
