New Delhi: This time summer is going to be hotter. Except South India, the rest of the country is going to have more temperatures in the day. North, northeast, east and western India will have above normal temperatures according to the forecast by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the time between March and May. South and Central India are going to have below normal temperatures. Some subdivisions in the east are likely to have lesser temperatures compared to other subdivisions in the same area.

Costal Andhra Pradesh, which is part of South India, however, is likely to experience maximum temperatures along with costal Maharashtra and Goa. IMD Director General Mohapatra said the temperatures are expected to be above normal by about 0.5 degree Celsius in Indo-Gangetic plains including Punjab, Delhi, UP, Chhatisgarh, Odisha and Jarkhand.
The IMD said the minimum temperature recorded in the country in January was the warmest in 62 years. This time South India was warm. It was the warmest in 121 years, with 22.33 degrees Celsius in South India. It was 22.14 degrees Celsius in 1919.

Mohapatra said the IMD would release the second summer forecast for April to June in April.
