“Come, make the vaccine in India,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech at the UN General Assembly on Saturday. He informed the UNGA that India had developed NDA vaccine that can be administered to all those who are above 12 years of age. Indian scientists are working on developing nasal vaccine, he said. India, which recognizes its responsibility towards humanity had resumed exporting vaccine to other countries. For the last year and a half, the world has been grappling with a disease called Covid the kind of which never inflicted on the world in the last one hundred years.
Narendra Modi said the strength of Indian democracy can be gauzed by the fact that a person who used to help his father in selling tea is today addressing the UNGA for the fourth time. He quoted DeenDayal Upadhyaya’s “antyodaya philosophy” and said India is progressing in the path of equitable development. ‘Our priority is that development should be all inclusive and universal,’ he said.
Terrorism as a political tool
Taking a swipe at Pakistan, Modi said “Those using terrorism as a political tool have to understand that terrorism is an equally big threat to them.” He was speaking on Saturday while Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke at the UNGA on Friday and he was given a rebuttal by India’s permanent representative at the UN Sneha Dubey. The young diplomat had given a strong reply to Imran Khan who referred to Kashmir saying that the human rights in the valley are being violated. Modi had called for a global response to terrorism.
