BHAKTI-LOVE AMBROSIA Part VI

His ways of humbling carnal traps and lures
of world; are clever sans design and smart
without panache. With Bhakti walls immures
his soul, but keeps ajar the doors of heart.

He soon attains a state; when my gnosis
pervades his mind, my mores attune his thoughts,
my lore becomes his song, my names spell bliss
and walks on path I marked with wisdom dots.

His choices shift from tasteless mortal weed
to sugary spiritual mead; from harsh clamours
of life to the resonance of sacred reed
and from the sensual thirst to chaste savours.

He’s like a chakor bird in love with the Moon,
to whom none else appeals and like a bee
who goes for luscious hibiscus to spoon
honeys, but never tastes a poison ivy!

He soon becomes a tranquil isle amidst
a turbulent sea. Descries he all, but can’t
discern; listens but won’t perceive the gist
and touches everything with feelings scant.

His heart trifles all worldly chores and mind
discounts the ritual routine. But yet
he does them all perfunctorily and blind;
with soul released of all telluric debt.

He grabs all that’s helpful in his essay
and sheds the hampering material hoard.
He’s like a clever rower who fills galley
with gold and jettisons all wasteful load.

He treads the invisible path I paved for him
and leaves a trail for pilgrim scouts behind.
He can follow the rules or churn and skim
new ones; but all were ere by me outlined.

In truth, no rule can bind a Bhakth. He tunes
the norms to suit the time, the place and needs.
He reads my word and harkens to my runes
and lo as I lead him… the world, he leads.
