Amravati: Former Prime Minister, late P.V.Narasimha Rao’s birth centenary celebration was held at Andhra Ratna Bhavan, Vijayawada, in Andhra Pradesh by Congress party. The programme was presided over by AP State in charge Oommen Chandy with participation of State and central leaders of the party .Chandy made a crucial remark on actor-turned-politician-turned actor Chiranjeevi during his interaction with media after the programme. According to him, Chiranjeevi is not a Congress leader anymore. He also said that Chiru is not active in party and has not been attending any programmes organised by Congress in state.

Chiranjeevi was also not seen in active politics post 2014 assembly elections and he focused once again on films. The actor has good terms with congress party with which he merged his Praja Rajyam Party and worked as tourism minister during Manmohan’s term as PM. After that he distanced himself from Congress and took neutral stand on politics. He recently praised AP Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for the mammoth vaccination drive. He also met Jagan and requested for a film city near Vizag for the growth of Tollywood. Until few days back, there were rumours in social media that Chiranjeevi will be gifted with Rajya Sabha seat from YCP to counter Jana Sena.

Chiru fans pin hope on his re-entry into politics
Fans across AP State are expecting few twists and turns from his hero before 2024 elections. According to them, their hero may take U turn once again into politics. Chiranjeevi came up with oxygen banks and charity services during Covid pandemic; he also interacted with fans presidents of districts in AP by making calls or sending messages. Few main heads met him at the blood bank a few days back. These developments are creating hype about his re-entry into politics at an opportune time. But his close aides say the charity services are running for the past 20 years and it was only a continuation. Chiranjeevi will never look back at politics, say close sources. The sudden demise of Dasari Narayana Rao left Tollywood without a big man to resolve the issues pertaining to industry and that part was taken over by Chiranjeevi now. Except this development, nothing new is going to happen, said a close associate of the megastar.

Only time will decide
On the other hand, his brother, Jana Sena chief, Pawan Kalyan, is running the party for seven years and could not show his impact on politics. Pavan has strong youth vote bank and was able to create 7% votes for his party and now Chiranjeevi fans say that if their hero comes out openly in support of Jana Sena, it will be a big boost for 2024 elections. If Pavan does not gain considerable seats in 2024 elections, it will be tough to run the party. It will be better if the whole Mega Family comes on a single platform and supports Jana Sena , say AP Chiranjeevi fans.
Will Chiru accept his fans’ demand or will he stick to films? Time alone will decide.
