Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao (KCR) has called Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Tamil Nadu CM K. Palaniswami and West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee and thanked them for their contribution to CM Relief Fund. He explained the situation in Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana in the wake of devastation caused by the unprecedented heavy downpour for almost a week. KCR earlier gave a call to donors and philanthropists to contribute to the relief and rehabilitation operations. The city of Hyderabad had witnessed loss of life and damage to the infrastructure.
While Delhi chief minister has announced a contribution of Rs. 15 crore, Tamil Naidu CM has contributed Rs. 10 crore and WB chief minister gave Rs.2 crore. Construction major Aparna Constructions and Estates has donated Rs. 6 crore and My Home Group has announced a contribution of Rs. 5 crore.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G. Kishan Reddy, has donated three months’ salary. He represents Secunderabad constituency in the Lok Sabha. He toured the affected areas extensively and met the suffering people. The MPs and MLAs have declared that two months salaries are being given to the CMRF.
Film stars announce help
Film star Prabhas has announced Rs. 1.5 crore while Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu have given one crore each. Akkineni Nagarjuna and Jr. NTR have come up with Rs. 50 lakh each. Director Trivikram Srinivas, actor Vijay Devarakonda and Harika Hasini Creations have announced 10 lakh each. Municipal Administration Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao has thanked all the film personalities who came forward with donations.
Heavy rain lashed many parts of twin cities once again on Tuesday. Compared with previous bouts, the loss and destructions have been less. The rains were heavy and had caused dislocation in the lives of the citizens. The roads have got inundated at several locations though the traffic jams were less this time. Under the impact of depression in the Bay of Bengal, there is a forecast of thunder storm accompanied with lightening in Telangana in coming two days. Cloudy sky is likely to be seen in Hyderabad.
KTR distributes financial assistance Municipal Administration Minister KTR has been in the forefront of relief and rehabilitation operations. He has been disbursing financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to poor families that faced the ire of the recent deluge. They were left with no belongings which were washed away. KTR has reiterated the government’s resolve to provide succour to the affected families in Greater Hyderabad and some other districts which were badly affected. He tried to assess the damage done due to floods. The drainage system is extremely bad. The minister was told by the people in the colonies which were inundated that drainage system has to be rebuilt as soon as possible.
