Didi to unite Opposition against BJP

  • Dials Sharad Pawar, Kejriwal and Stalin for support
  • Huge rally in Kolkata in January to be addressed by secular leaders
  • Will KCR too extend support?
  • What about TDP supremo who shared Kolkota platform in 2019?

Kolkata: It looks the exodus of senior TMC leaders into BJP pressurised Mamata as though she was pushed to the wall. Like a Bengali tigers she is preparing for counter attack by bouncing back against the saffron party. She is planning to mobilise the support of the secular parties across the country.  As part of this strategy, she dialled NCP Chief Sharad Pawar and asked for his unstinted support  in the upcoming assembly elections. As per sources, Sharad Pawar has extended his support and gave his consent  to participate in a joint rally at Kolkota which will be held in January.

Delhi CM Kejriwal and DMK chief Stalin will join the rally along with Captain Amarinder and Ashok Gehlot, Congress chief ministers of Punjab and Rajasthan respectively. Mamata came on twitter thanking all those who   extended solidarity to her. “Centre is brazenly interfering with state Govt functioning by transferring police officers. My gratitude to@bhupeshbaghel, @ArvindKejirwal, @Capt.Amarinder,@ashok Gehlot51 and @mkstalin for showing solidarity to people of Bengal and reaffirming their commitment to federalism. Thank You,” the tweet said. Mamata was referring to the attempt by the Centre to transfer three IPS officers who were doing duty when BJP president JP Nadda’s car was attacked allegedly by  TMC workers.

Telangana CM K.Chandrasekhar Rao gave a call for anti-BJP front in the name of ‘Federal front’ ahead of GHMC polls. Will he join the rally in Kolkota of TMC and opposition regional parties of India is not known. In 2019 prior to Lok Sabha elections Telangana CM tried for a third front which was failed as he lacked cooperation from other parties. He gave a call to Kumarswamy, Akhilesh, Mamata, Stalin, Sharad pawar for a joint alliance to face NDA. Another Telugu politician who made a noise against the BJP in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular, the TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s name was not mentioned by Mamata. Naidu played an aggressive role during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and was present at Kolkata rally during the campaign. After losing badly in both Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Naidu has been keeping a low profile trying to get back into Modi’s good books. Telugu leaders appear to be facing trust deficit as far as national politics is concerned. West Bengal chief minister did not call either KCR or Naidu.
