The new education policy rightly decided that primary education (upto 5th) will be in regional medium. Merger of University Grant’s Commission, AICTE is a good move. Reducing syllabus and giving training in professional skills like coding from class 6 is a progressive step. Compulsory Internship gives practical knowledge and work experience necessary in today’s world to get jobs. Instead of 10+2+3 having 5+3+3+4 is better in many ways. The success of the scheme depends on how well the government will be able to control private institutions in implementing these reforms. If the salaries of teachers in private schools and colleges continue to be different from government ones no reform can be expected.
