NEW Delhi: Temporary ban on flights from UK to India was announced by India on Monday after a new and highly infectious strain of corona virus was found in Britain. “Considering the prevailing situation in the UK, Indian Govt has decided that all flights originating from UK to India shall be temporarily suspended till 11.59 pm, 31st December. This suspension would come into effect from 11.59 pm on 22nd December,” the Ministry of Civil Aviation twitter said.
Ministry further said passengers arriving from UK to India before 22nd, should be subjected to mandatory RT-PCR test on arrival at the concerned airports.
UK announced lockdown after it found new strain of corona virus which is said to be deadly and out of control. UK Health Minister Matt Hancock termed it as unfortunate and in order to get it under control the only option left is a lockdown.
