- KCR prefers name in sealed cover
- BJP says it is insult to democracy
- Not the first time, says MIM
Hyderabad: GHMC mayor election is due on Feb 11th and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) directed his party members that the name will be given in a sealed cover at GHMC head quarters. In the party executive meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday, KCR said that the names of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be intimated through sealed cover to TRS corporators and to its Ex-officio members.
What KCR said to his members
On Feb 11th around 9 am, all newly elected TRS corporators and Ex officio members with voting rights should be present at Pragathi Bhavan. A sealed envelope with the names of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be handed over at TRS Bhavan and from there they will move to GHMC head quarters. After newly corporators take oath, they have to file their nomination for the Mayor and at around 12.30 pm, in the meeting, sitting corporators have to raise their hands in support to the name of the Mayor they received through sealed envelope.

KCR lacks trust in his party leaders: BJP
KCR lacks trust in his party leaders, which is publicly expressed through election process of GHMC Mayor through sealed cover, said BJP Chief Spokesperson Krishna Sagar Rao. It’s an insult to democracy and GHMC voters and it is no way different from Congress in making election process a complete farce, BJP said.
Not the first time: MIM
MIM party leaders said that ‘sealed envelope’ concept is not the first time with the congress and the TDP also had done in the past. This is common in political parties and not an issue of trust. This is like a whip and dissents can be disqualified, felt a senior MIM leader.

Why KCR chose sealed cover strategy?
It is a big surprise in political circles. TRS party has adequate numbers to win both Mayor and Deputy Mayor Posts with inclusion of Ex-officio members. But the selection of sealed cover by Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao remains mystery as of now.
