KCR is well informed: Vundavalli

  • He is the only CM who can match Modi in gift of the gab
  • KCR has done a lot of homework on many subjects
  • They discussed from 12 noon to 5 pm on Sunday

If we go by what former MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar, who had a five hour meeting (from 12 noon to 5 pm) with TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) on Sunday, the latter has done a lot of homework on the state of affairs in the country in his preparation to launch a national party. Vundavalli returned to Rajamahendravaram on Monday afternoon and held a media conference in the evening to tell the scribes what transpired between him and KCR.

Vundavalli said he was received by Harish Rao, Minister of Finance and Health. They had chitchat for half an hour after which KCR, who was busy talking to the Chief Secretary, joined them. They had lunch together. Election strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) was there throughout their meeting. As the discussion between KCR and Vundavalli was going on in Telugu, PK was only a passive listener. He did not participate in the discussion. A couple of ministers sat there for a while and went away.

Vundavalli said KCR has given him a lot of respect and gave him the details of the country’s position in power, water, food grains etc the figures of which are on his figure tips. KCR listed the decisions taken by the Narendra Modi dispensation which are detrimental to the country. Vundavalli has similar opinion of the BJP. He said at Rajamahendravaram  that he has no problem with leaders of RSS and BJP since they are good persons. His problem is only with their concept of India which is very dangerous. Already Arab and other Islamic countries have started questioning the secular credentials of the government. Indian government was forced to explain its stand. India which is a leader in IT has interests all over the world and Indians are employed in every major country in the world. Their interests will be jeopardized if India is considered as a country hating Muslims, Vundavalli explained.

Now things are going ashtray. Atal Behari Vajpayee, the first BJP prime minister,  had check in strong opposition and he was dependent on scores of coalition partners. Moreover, he was a thorough liberal democrat by nature. Now Modi is strong and he is behaving like a king. He is working towards not only ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ as he earlier promised but ‘opposition Mukt Bharat.’ When no opposition leader is prepared to stick his neck out and attack Modi for the fear of retribution through the use of Enforcement Directorate and arbitrary arrests, here is KCR who is boldly attacking Modi and the BJP. KCR feels that there is need for a strong opposition and the Congress is not likely to get rejuvenated and give a fight to the BJP. Hence there is need for an alternative party, KCR told Vundavalli. But the former MP said the proposal of a national party to be floated by KCR did not figure in their discussion. The chief minister was only talking about various issues the country is facing today and the dangers posed by the BJP government.

Vundavalli said he told KCR at the very beginning when he called ten days ago that he is a retired politician for all practical purposes and he talks to the media because of his cordial relationship with media personnel in Rajamahendravaram. Answering a question the two-time MP said there is no question of a Rajya Sabha seat being offered by KCR or being accepted by him. He said he is not for any political position. He made it clear in 2014 itself, he reminded. He entered politics at a very  young age and he knows what it takes to get a position in politics and how hard one needs to work for it. He said he is not prepared to enter politics again.

Vundavalli said KCR is well equipped to counter BJP as he is a good speaker in English and Hindi. He also said Mamata Bannerjee of West Bengal cannot speak as fluently in Hindi or English as KCR. Moreover, KCR has got grip  on key subjects and can match Modi in that aspect also. A leader who can stop Modi in his tracks is the need of the hour, Vundavalli said. He said he may meet KCR once again after a few days if he is invited.
