After a long time in Telangana, Congress leaders showed unity during the Jai Bharath Satyagraha public meeting held in Mancherial. All the senior leaders including TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, MPs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Utham Kumar Reddy, party senior leaders Madhu Yaski, V Hanumantha Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar and Premsagar Rao and MLAs D Sridhar Babu, T Jagga Reddy and P Veeraiah, were among those who attended the public meeting.
All the leaders in TPCC team, DCC president and town presidents made their presence. The public gathering in Mancherial impressed each and every leader and worker. Congress leader Premsagar Rao and CLP leader Bhatti worked very well in bringing masses to the meeting. Bhatti’s padayatra helped a lot for it. It was a visual feast for the Congress workers noticing senior leaders at one place. The people, who attended the meeting, watched interestingly while TPCC president Revanth Reddy and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka walked together by holding hands after the end of the public meeting. Almost all the senior leaders took part in the Hath se Hath Jod Yatra led by CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka.
It is first public meeting of AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge in Telangana after he assumed the highest post in the party. He explained how a small worker in Congress like him was made AICC president. He called that it is time for every party worker to stand behind Rahul Gandhi. “Rahul Gandhi is being humiliated on every occasion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders. Rahul’s Lok Sabha membership was cancelled showing a court case. Where as an MLA in Karnataka was not touched even after the court imposed penalty in a case”, he said.
Referring BR Ambedkar, he said that many political parties used to claim of giving more tickets to the dalits in the country and there is no sincerity in their gestures. He said that the condition of dalits would be more critical if a personality like Ambedkar did not emerge in India.
Bhatti said that Congress is the only party that had guts in protecting Indian Constitution written of B R Ambedkar. “I started the Hath se Hath Jodo Yatra to take the message of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra to the masses of Telangana. The leaders who addressed the meeting, spoke cautiously avoiding unnecessary controversies. (eom)
