Hyderabad: In the horrifying incident of gang rape which took place in Hyderabad on May 28th, seven persons, including AIMIM MLA’s son have been apprehended. BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao at a press conference few days back alleged that AIMIM MLA’s son was involved in the case and displayed some photographs. Police, at last, booked case against the MLA’s son but said that he was not involved in rape but abused victim in Mercedes Benz on the way to bakery.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said that the Innova car in which the attack took place was seized. It belongs to a Government official. Anand held a press conference on Tuesday evening and highlighted series of events which led to horrifying incident. When questioned about political links, the Police Commissioner said “we can’t tell the details, but you have to conclude”.

Crimes on Women in Telangana are concerning, says NCW
National Commission For Women (NCW) raised concerns on increasing rate of crime on women in Telangana, particularly on minor girls. NCW Chief Rekha Sharma wrote letter to DGP of Telangana seeking report on the steps taken by State government to ensure safety and security of girls and women and to prevent such incidents in future. She released a statement which further reads, “The role of the police is not only to protect and prevent crimes but also to take swift and appropriate action in such matters. Therefore, the Commission has taken cognisance of the matter”.

Sharp Political attack by Opposition
The ruling party, TRS, came under sharp attack by opposition parties, BJP and Congress, which demanded that the case should be handed over to CBI for an impartial probe. AIMIM is a friendly party of TRS and it is the minimum responsibility of State Government to hand it over to the CBI when accused are family members of AIMIM leaders. “The pubs in Telangana should be closed permanently,” TBJP President Bandi Sanjay demanded. Congress party held press conference at Gandhi Bhavan demanding serious action against the accused. NSUI staged dharna in front of Jubilee Hills PS demanding an impartial probe in the case and severe action against the accused.
