KAMAREDDY: For the first time in the last several years the old reservoir Nizam Sagar, a lifeline of the composite erstwhile Nizamabad district, is almost full to its brim with 15 tmcf of water as against its full capacity of 17.30 tmcf, on Thursday.
Reports reaching here said that over one lakh cusecs of water is coming into the reservoir with heavy rainfall in Karnataka and Sangareddy district and the river Manjeera across which the dam was built has been in spate.
Six flood gates were lifted to let the water go into the river. Farmers under its ayacut expressed happiness over the reservoir receiving bumper inflows after a long time.
As usual with every year, this year too they transplanted paddy under the borewells and now they are sure of smooth passage of harvest with good wettings and also availability of plenty of water for transplantation in the coming yasangi (rabi formerly).
