Pothula Sunitha files nomination for MLC

  • Resigned from TDP on Oct 28, 2020, joined YSRCP
  • Election will be held on Jan28, 2021
  • Is YCP starting ‘Operation Akarsh?’

Amaravati: Pothula Sunitha filed her nomination papers on Monday for the vacant MLC seat in the Council. She filed her papers as a YCP candidate and submitted documents to election returning officer. Sunitha resigned her MLC membership last year on Oct 26th, which was accepted by Legislative Council Chairman B-Form, was issued to Sunitha by AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy for the vacant seat and election will be held on Jan 28th. Last date for filing nomination is 19th Jan and for scrutiny, Jan 19th and for withdrawal, it is 21st.

Last year in June AP assembly passed two bills, one on Three capitals and second for abolish of Legislative Council. YCP enjoys majority in Assembly but does not have enough members in council to get the bills passed. Main rival TDP is enjoying the strength in the Council. So,  the chief minister wants to keep a check on that. Slowly YCP is pulling one by one MLC’s from TDP into their party. After Dokka Manickya Vara Prasad, now it is the turn of Pothula Sunitha. It is clear that Jagan Mohan Reddy  wants to run the show of AP Legislative Council, but by increasing the strength of their party members, which can be done in coming days as few others are on the line of exodus from TDP into YCP.
