Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made it clear that his party would not have any alliance with the ruling TRS. He said there was a dream behind Sonia Gandhi’s decision to concede the demand for a separate State of Telangana and that dream will be realized by the people of Telangana with the Congress standing by them. He reminded the people that TRS had supported the three anti-farmer farm laws brought by the NDA government. The BJP knows it will not be able to come to power in Telangana and it has a secret understanding with the TRS. Mulugu MLA Seethakka presided over the meeting.
Addrssing a mammoth gathering at Warangal Rythu Sangharshana Sabha, Rahul said the BJP and TRS are together and that is why the Modi government does not use ED or CBI against Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) who indulged in corruption. He described KCR as a Raja who does not care to listen to the people. He said KCR is a Raja and the difference between a Chief Minister and a Raja is that the CM would listen to the people and behaves in a democratic way while a Raja does not care for people or democracy. Rahul said the Congress party after coming to power would not leave the thief of Telangana unpunished.
Rahul Gandhi promised waiver of farm loans to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh. He also said the tenant farmers would be paid Rs. 15,000 per year and the landless farmers would be paid Rs. 12,000 per annum. He told the huge gathering that the Congress party would abide by every word that is uttered in Warangal Farmers’ Declaration. He said it is Congress party’s guarantee.
He made it clear that the Congress will not have any electoral understanding with the TRS. If any Congress leader, however big he is, talks about any such alliance, he better join TRS or BJP, Rahul said. This meeting was held to give confidence to the farmers that their travails have come to an end. He said a similar meeting would be held to assure the Adivasis that they would be given ten percent reservations in jobs, educational institutions and legislatures.
PCC President Revanth Reddy, who was successful in mobilizing huge crowd, read out the Warangal Farmers’ Declaration which promised many things to farmers. He said the Congress party soon after coming to power would waive farm loans. He said the Congress government would launch Indiramma Rythu Bharoosa Pathakam. All crops will have support price, the Bharani portal will be abolished and those who are supplying spurious fertilizers and seeds will be sent to jail. Revanth Reddy declared the support price for various crops.
