Delhi: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth had dedicated Dadasaheb Phalke Award he received from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday to a bus driver who happens to be his friend. The award presentation ceremony took place at Vignyan Bhavan in Delhi. Rajinikanth used to work as bus conductor before entering film industry. He chose to dedicate the Dadasaheb award to an old bus driver friend. The ace actor also dedicated the award to filmmaker K. Balachander who directed Rajini’s first film Apoorva Raagangal, his brother Sathyanarayana Rao and his directors, producers, theatre owners, technicians and fans.
Rajini’s wife Latha, their daughter Aishwarya and her husband Dhanush who won the National Film Award for best actor for his performance in Asuran were also present at the ceremony. The jury that selected Rajinikanth for the award comprised singer Asha Bhosle, music director Shankar Mahadevan, actors Biswajit Chatterjee, Mohanlal and film maker Subhas Ghai.
On Sunday Rajini’s daughter Aishwarya launched a new app named Hoote. He announced on Sunday that his daughter’s app and his own award on Monday are two important developments in his life of late. Rajinikanth’s blockbusters include Thalapathy, Baasha, Chandramukhi, Sivaji, Enthiran etc. Darbar was the latest film he acted. It was released last year. He almost entered politics last year before announcing his plans not to do so.
