Subhash Chandra Bose is one of the great leaders of India. Bose wanted to fight the then British Empire in which ‘the Sun never set’. British Navy was one of the strongest in the world. British army had cannons. And Bose wanted to win a war with them though he had no resources nor trained men or proper weapons.

Authors of “Freedom at Midnight” tell us that with his background of being a boy scout he thought that he could command an army. He believed that Germans and Japanese will help him fight the British without any benefit for themselves. It is unreasonable to say British were afraid of him and his 60k army (of whom more than 50% died) and so left India.

This is an idea of people who could not believe in the path of non-violence. People world over value Buddha and Gandhi but not so much the people who succeeded in wars.
This idea that British left fearing Bose’s army is propagated by a section of people who want to lessen the image of Gandhi by promoting Patel on one side and Bose on the other.
