- Ruling party juggernaut continues its winning streak with 7-0
- 2 corporations and 5 municipal in Car’s dickey
- 74% win by TRS of total wards in seven civic bodies
- No fight by BJP and Congress in mini municipal polls
Hyderabad: The tsunami by TRS is clearly seen in Municipal and corporation elections held recently. It is complete sweep by ruling party which won two Corporations-Warangal and Khammam-and fivevmunicipalities-Kothur, Siddipet, Achampeta, Jadcherla and Nakirekal. The polls were held on April 30 and counting was done on May 3.
In Warangal, TRS bagged 43 out of 66 divisions, in Khammam it won 39 out of 53. In Khammam Corporation, out of 60, only 53 saw polls. It is clear cut comfortable majority for ruling party to elect Mayor and deputy Mayor without any help from other parties.
Coming to Municipalities, in Siddipet, TRS bagged 36 divisions out of 43, in Jadcherla, TRS got 23 out of 27,In Nakirekal, TRS bagged 11 out of 20, Achampeta, TRS secured 13 out of 20, and in Kothur of Ranga Reddy district, TRS bagged 7 out of 12.
BJP, Congress nowhere
Opposition parties, BJP and Congress, were nowhere in picture in the civic polls, though Saffron stood in second place in Warangal,it ended up in third position when we take all the wards that went to polls into account. The Congress stood in the second position. It is clear that BJP is losing its fight after a thumping win in Dubbaka and decent performance in GHMC elections held in December, the same with Congress party which lost in recent Sagar bypoll to TRS. In fact, Sagar was a TRS seat. BJP has also lost one of its wards which it won in December in GHMC elections. This proves that saffron party could not expand its influence in state after the winning in Dubbaka.
Big relief to TRS
The debacles in Dubbaka and GHMC elections might have alerted TRS Supremo KCR who changed his style and approach immediately. TRS party strongly bounced back in recent MLC elections and in Sagar bypoll. The credit goes to CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who stepped in seriously to counter the damage done previously. Winning two MLC seats and Sagar bypoll certainly boosted the morale of the cadre and party leaders. Just a day after retaining Sagar Assembly seat, the tremendous sweep by party in local civic polls indicates that the TRS in the forefront once again.
