Hyderabad: After fter cabinet meeting on Friday, Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), finalised names for three MLC posts under Governor’s quota which are vacant. Names are Goreti Venkanna, Baswaraju Saraiah and Boggarapu Dayananda. Nearly 15 to 20 candidates are in race including former Ministers, Ex-MPs, but it was the final call of CM, with names sent for Governor Tamilisai’s approval. Governor can nominate only 3 MLC’s at a time.
KCR announced the names keeping in view of the caste balance with Goreti Venkanna belonging to SC, Baswaraju Saraiah, a BC and Dayanadan belonging to OC.
Goreti Venkanna is a popular poet, a balladeer, who became famous with hhis song ”Palle Kanneeru peduthondo” in a movie ‘Kubusam’ which touched the hearts of Telangana people. He hails from Gowraram village of Nagarkurnool district. His songs are predominantly known for their compostion in Telangana dialect.
Baswaraju Saraiah is a former congress minister who joined TRS in 2016. He hails from Warangal and elected thrice as MLA and also served as vice-chairman of Warangal Municipal Council.
Boggarapu Dayananda is an active member of Arya Vysaya Community in Telangana State. He is former Deputy Director of Protocol during United Andhra Pradesh, who took voluntary retirement and joined TRS in 2014. Before that he was active in the TDP. Uppala Srinivas Gupta’s name was in consideration before the cabinet met, but the cabinet opted for Dayananda in place of Srinivas. Even late P.V.Narasimha Rao’s daughter Vanidevi’s name was heard before cabinet meet.
