Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday ordered a stay on the GO issued by AP Government nominating some fifty members as special invitees to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). There were three petitions taking objection to the appointment of so many persons to the holy body. The petitioners, from TDP and BJP persuations, said it would be a lot of burden on Devasthanam and ordinary devotees. The Government pleader said the appointments were made according to the rules and regulations.
There was criticism against appointing as members of the board those who are facing inquiries on criminal charges and those who have been facing CBI investigations. It was criticized that the sanctity of Lord Venkateswara is being compromised by appointing shady characters to the board of the temple which is regarded very high in public esteem.
